EVO X build- Time Attack purpose
Well it's gonna happen. After close discussions with Eric from EB, we are going ahead with the massive EVO X build. I will write my info in english- but Eric may chime in and translate back to french.
GOAL- build the fastest road course EVO X in Canada, that is daily driven and not trailered to the track.
ARENA- ASE Time Attack series- debut May 29th at Autodrome St-Eustache
ASSEMBLY- Autoworx in VSL.
TUNING- EB TUNING
PARTNERS- Perry Performance & Competition, EB Tuning, KW Suspensiom, Performance Friction brakes, DBA Discs, Bully Clutch and GULF Competition oils
My idea- Install the very best suspension and brakes. So I opted for KW Clubsport OTS coilovers, Whiteline sway bars frt & rear, Whiteline Roll center adjust kit and sway bar links. For brakes, I will start with DBA 5000 frt and 4000 in the rear, along with Performance Friction pads. I will try a variety of compounds from them and Carbone Lorraine in 2011. Goodridge lines and Gulf RF1000 brake fluid.
Bully has supplied a Stage 1 clutch kit and it will be mated with a ACT StreetLite flywheel.
Normally I would have been done here. But issues arising last year made me investigate several options.
First, to eliminate the fuel starvation after hard left cornering, I have a Kosmic/Perry Performance fuel surge tank and pump being installed. Now I can run with less than 10 litres in the tank safely.
I have ordered up 2 more sets of VOLK 57D wheels in bright orange- this way people can spot me easy on the track!! I will have them wrapped with Hankook RS3s for street class, Nitto NT01s for mod class and then Hoosier R6s for the Race class.
Steps in Eric..."Carl , why don't we build a fast and reliable track car"... I say- Ok, let me know what I have to order......lol
Enter AMS Performance- Intercooler, LICP, UICP, air intake, wide mouth downpipe, high flow cat ( to go with my Magnaflow cat back) and several dollars later, we are looking at 350whp.....
To keep an eye on things, Eric suggested a Synapse BOV, a Grimspeed boost controller and a Performance gauge pod for all my AEM gauges- EGT, AF and boost- ( we carry all of this in stock BTW....)
With Gulf Competition oil in the motor, REDLINE tranny fluids and HKS spark plugs, I think we are in business.
Follow this thread for updates as we get things going!

Re: EVO X build- Time Attack purpose

Re: EVO X build- Time Attack purpose
ARENA- Serie ASE Time Attack - debutant le 29 may a l'autrodome st-eustache.
INSTALLATION PIECES - Autoworks a VSL
TUNING- EB TUNING
PARTENAIRES- Perry Performance & Competition, EB Tuning, KW Suspensiom, Performance Friction brakes, DBA Discs, Bully Clutch and GULF Competition oils
Normalement j'aurais arreter ici.

Re: EVO X build- Time Attack purpose
For the moment, no turbo upgrade, so no rad or cooler as well.
The goal remains that the car remains streetable and very reliable.
We are looking for 57s or better at ASE. Maybe faster on the Hoosiers.....lol

Both.
Re: EVO X build- Time Attack purpose
Wow, thats a huge undertaking especially with all the noise restrictions and enforcing happening the last few years.

Re: EVO X build- Time Attack purpose
That's why the down pipe is a widemouth and not a O2 open dump.
That would have yeld more power but would have also raised the noise level quite alot.
The magnaflow cat back is a bit more restrictive also and picking another cat back would also have yeld more power and more noise. The magnaflow fit in the "just noisy enough" category.
I think so far I've heard almost all exhaust made for the X after the numerous car I've tuned and the Tomioka Racing I have on my car and the Magnaflow cat back are the quietest in the whole market. I replaced the magnaflow because on my car with the bigger turbo it was too noisy but it was just perfect when I had the stock turbo.

Aren't the rear seats foam pads weighing nothing?
Right now, no plans for harness, roll bar etc.

Yup- Street legal all the way and very streetable.
Notice we chose the ACT streetlite flywheel over the Prolite... among other choices.

Seems like 40lbs but not sure how accurate.
Ryan Gates has a list of things he replaced or removed, shaving at that time 400lbs.

I think now it's closer to 800-900 with carbon fiber everywhere but probably not 100% street legal lol.

Re: EVO X build- Time Attack purpose
Well I just dropped the car off tonite. The boys at Autoworx seem stoked about getti8ng this project underway.
For weight, I always remove tools, mats and spare and if the seat is worth 40, I may do that as well.
The DBA5000 discs, as well as the Magnaflow and ACT FW should contribute to lower mass. The KWs as well.
Can't beleive I have to drive my ITR for the next 2 weeks.

Re: EVO X build- Time Attack purpose
Your already lightyears ahaed than everybody soo why bother with weight.
Even at 350whp it's an incredible achievement.
Set you goal on the 53 sec lap that AMS did in the 8 with 150 000$ budget.
I know you can do it. :D

Re: EVO X build- Time Attack purpose
Thanks for the vote of confidence, but the car has no aero, so its touh to put the power down.
BTW, I beleive the official AMS time was 54.7..... still far from reach....

Re: EVO X build- Time Attack purpose
It was a pleasure today to see the car perform at the first time attack. I really enjoyed seeing an awesome driver at the wheel of a powerful beast.
Only a few minor adjustement was done tuning wise to keep the EGT in check and I've changed a few small things to suit a litle bit more the driving style of Carl. That required him to adjust quickly but overall I think he was quite surprised
